Avocado Pasta

If you’ve ever stood in front of the fridge thinking, “I want something creamy, comforting, and impressive… but I absolutely do not want to cook for an hour,” then this Avocado Pasta Recipe is about to become your new best friend.

This is one of those dishes that feels fancy enough for a dinner party but is easy enough to throw together on a random Tuesday night when your energy is running on vibes alone.

Yet somehow, it still delivers that rich, creamy pasta experience we all crave. It’s fresh, bright, and indulgent at the same time—which honestly feels like cheating.

Check the ingredients and the instructions for this creamy avocado pasta recipe below.

Ingredients

  • Spaghetti (or Pasta of choice): The main component of the dish, boiled to an al dente stage (80% cooked) and then finished cooking directly in the avocado sauce, allowing it to absorb the flavors.
  • Salt: Used to properly season the water for boiling the pasta, as well as to season the avocado sauce itself, balancing and enhancing all the other flavors.
  • Avocados: The core ingredient for the sauce, providing the creamy texture and base flavor when blended into a paste with the seasonings.
  • 4-5 Garlic Cloves: Included in the blender to provide a foundational, savory, and pungent aromatic flavor to the raw avocado sauce.
  • ½ teaspoon Chilli Flakes: Used in the paste mixture to add a mild, overall level of heat, and also serves as an optional garnish to give the finished dish an extra spicy kick.
  • A decent amount of pepper: An essential seasoning to add complexity and sharpness to the flavor profile of the avocado sauce.
  • 1 Green Chilli: Blended into the paste to contribute a fresh, herbaceous, and distinct layer of heat to the sauce.
  • A teaspoon of American Mustard: Added to the sauce mixture to introduce a tangy, slightly sharp, and savory complexity that helps cut through the richness of the avocado.
  • Lemon Juice: Provides necessary acidity to brighten the overall flavor of the sauce, balancing the fat from the avocado, and also helps to prevent the avocado from browning.
  • Water (including reserved pasta water): Used initially when blending the avocado mixture to achieve a smooth paste consistency, and later added to the cooked pasta and sauce to reach the final desired creamy consistency, helping the sauce perfectly coat the spaghetti strands.
  • ½ – 1 tablespoon Olive Oil (or your oil of choice): Used to sauté the avocado paste for a few minutes, which deepens the flavors of the sauce before the pasta is added.
  • Fresh Basil: An optional garnish to be added upon serving, providing a fresh, aromatic, and herbaceous element to the final plate.

How To Cook Avocado Pasta?

Step 1 – Boil the Pasta

Boil the pasta.

Here I am using spagetti.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil over high heat. Add the spaghetti, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Cook according to package directions, typically 8-10 minutes, until it’s 80% cooked.

Step 2 – Cut the avocados, add it to a mixer and make it into a paste.

First cut the avocados, ok?

After that put it the mixer jar, and add these ingredients one by one.

  • 4-5 Garlic Cloves
  • ½ teaspoon Chilli Flakes
  • A decent amount of pepper
  • 1 Green Chilli
  • A teaspoon of american mustard sauce
  • Lemon Juice
  • Salt to Taste

Grind all of them in a mixer and make it into a paste. Add water if required for a smooth paste consistency.

Step 3 – In a large pan, add Olive Oil and Cook the Paste for Some Time

Add ½ – 1 tablespoon olive oil (or your oil of choice) and let it boil. Put the avocado paste in it. Make sure it’s cooked properly for 4-5 minutes.

Taste the paste a little bit to see if it’s cooked properly.

Step 4 – Add the Pasta

Add the 80% cooked pasta directly to the pan with the cooked avocado paste.

Add water.

Toss well to coat the spaghetti completely with the sauce.

If the sauce seems too thick, add a little of the reserved pasta water, one tablespoon at a time, until the desired creamy consistency is reached.

Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, stirring once in a while, until the pasta is fully cooked and the sauce is perfectly clinging to the strands.

Step 5 – Serve with Chilli Flakes

Serve immediately, garnished with fresh basil or chilli flakes as you want.
