- 1 cup pasta (penne, fusilli, or spaghetti)
- ½ cup fresh green peas
- 3 tbsp pasta water (reserved from boiling)
- 1 tbsp oil
- ½ tsp dried basil (use fresh basil if you have it, I used dried ones because the fresh ones were not available)
- ¼ tsp dried thyme
- ¼ tsp garam masala (or a pinch cinnamon + nutmeg)
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp ginger paste (or grated fresh ginger)
- 1 green chilli (use chilli flakes if you don't like Chilli Flakes)
- Salt (to taste)
Add green peas, basil, thyme, garam masala, garlic powder, ginger, and chilli to a blender. Blend into a thick paste. Add 1–2 tbsp water if needed.
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the blended green peas mixture and cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring until the sauce thickens and becomes aromatic.
Add cooked al dente pasta to the pan and gently mix until fully coated with the green peas sauce.
Add reserved pasta water gradually and stir until the sauce becomes creamy and coats the pasta.
Serve hot. Garnish with basil, chilli flakes, or a drizzle of olive oil if desired.
-
Fresh green peas give the sauce a sweeter and fresher flavor than frozen peas.
-
Pasta shapes like penne or fusilli hold the sauce best.
-
Add a splash of cream or grated cheese if you want a richer sauce.
