Apple Cider Margarita
Whenever fall rolls around, I start craving cozy flavors, and this Apple Cider Margarita is one of my favorite ways to enjoy them. It brings together the crisp sweetness of apple cider, the bright tang of fresh lime, and the smooth kick of tequila in a drink that feels festive without being complicated.

I love adding a cinnamon-sugar rim because it makes every sip taste a little like autumn.
The best part?
I can mix one up in just a few minutes, whether I’m hosting friends or relaxing after a long day. It’s refreshing, slightly sweet, and perfect for everything from casual get-togethers to holiday dinners.
Ingredients
- 2 oz tequila – I prefer silver tequila because its smooth, clean flavor pairs nicely with the apple cider.
- 2 oz apple cider – This gives my margarita its delicious apple flavor and natural sweetness.
- 1 oz fresh lime juice – I use freshly squeezed lime juice to add a refreshing tang and balance the sweetness.
- ¾ oz triple sec – This adds a lovely hint of orange flavor that complements the apple cider.
- ¼ oz maple syrup (optional) – I like adding a little maple syrup for extra sweetness and a cozy fall flavor.
- Ice cubes – These help chill the margarita and keep it refreshing.
- 1 tablespoon sugar and ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon – I combine these to make a sweet, spiced rim for the glass.
- Apple slices and cinnamon sticks (optional) – I use these as garnishes to make the drink look beautiful and festive.
How to Make Apple Cider Margarita?
Step 1: Prepare the glass. Start by mixing the sugar and ground cinnamon on a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your margarita glass, then dip the rim into the cinnamon-sugar mixture until it is evenly coated. Set the glass aside.
Step 2: Add the ingredients to a shaker. Pour the tequila, apple cider, fresh lime juice, triple sec, and maple syrup (if using) into a cocktail shaker.
Step 3: Shake everything together. Add a handful of ice cubes to the shaker and close the lid tightly. Shake vigorously for about 15–20 seconds until the mixture is well chilled.
Step 4: Pour the margarita. Fill your prepared glass with fresh ice cubes. Strain the margarita mixture into the glass, being careful not to disturb the cinnamon-sugar rim.
Step 5: Garnish and enjoy. Add a thin apple slice to the rim of the glass and place a cinnamon stick inside for a festive finishing touch. Serve immediately while the margarita is cold and refreshing.
How To Serve This Recipe?
I love serving my Apple Cider Margarita in a short margarita glass or rocks glass with plenty of ice and a cinnamon-sugar rim. The sweet, spiced rim makes the drink feel extra special, especially during the fall season.

For a beautiful presentation, I like to garnish each glass with a few thin apple slices and a cinnamon stick. Sometimes, I even add a small sprig of fresh rosemary for a pop of color and a lovely aroma.
This margarita is one of my favorite drinks to serve at fall parties, Thanksgiving gatherings, and cozy evenings with friends. I think it pairs especially well with appetizers like cheese boards, roasted nuts, and savory snacks.
I always serve it immediately after mixing because it tastes best when it’s freshly shaken and perfectly chilled.

Notes
-
Use fresh apple cider: I prefer fresh, unfiltered apple cider because it gives the margarita a richer apple flavor.
-
Adjust the sweetness: If the apple cider is already sweet, I usually skip the maple syrup. You can add a little if you prefer a sweeter cocktail.
-
Use fresh lime juice: I recommend freshly squeezed lime juice instead of bottled juice for a brighter, fresher flavor.
-
Choose your tequila: Silver tequila works beautifully, but reposado tequila is another great option if you prefer a smoother, slightly oaky flavor.
-
Make it ahead: I sometimes combine the liquid ingredients a few hours before serving and refrigerate them. I add ice and shake just before serving.
-
Serve it chilled: I always use plenty of fresh ice because this margarita tastes best when cold.
